The Axis Medical Aesthetics (AMA) team came together 13 years ago, to offer the best possible eye care at Axis Eye Center (AEC) under the leadership of the triple Fellowship trained eye surgeon, Dr. Aasim Kamal, MD. Each of his team members is hand-picked and personally trained by him in assisting in delicate and micro interventions, and quality patient care. The AEC team is now expanding the application of their combined experience and expertise to AMA by offering medical and professional care for skin treatments.

Dr. Aasim Kamal
Dr. Aasim Kamal is a triple-fellowship–trained ophthalmic surgeon with more than 25 years of experience. Over his career he has personally performed 30,000-plus cataract and LASIK procedures, earning a reputation for precision in advanced microsurgical and laser techniques. During residency Dr. Kamal practiced the therapeutic use of neurotoxin injections to relieve refractory headaches, and he has since integrated a broad range of injectable and laser technologies into his ophthalmic practice. He further expanded his expertise through a rigorous aesthetic-medicine training program with the American Board of Aesthetic Medicine, working alongside some of the field’s foremost innovators. Dr. Kamal’s practice is grounded in evidence-based medicine, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to patient safety and satisfaction.

Jaime Mesa-Lema is the Practice Manager for Axis Eye Center & Axis Medical Aesthetics in Phoenix, Arizona. A graduate of Arizona State University, Jaime has 13 years of experience in administration, leadership and patient services in this practice. He has worked closely with Dr. Kamal throughout these years, and his dedication helps maintain a welcoming and professional environment for both staff and patients.

Tracy Calleo: Marketing & Aesthetics Manager
Tracy Calleo serves as the Marketing & Aesthetics Manager for Axis Eye Center & Axis Medical Aesthetics, anchoring both the ophthalmic marketing strategies and medical aesthetics program. Working closely with Dr. Kamal and the patient care team, Tracy aligns pre‑ and post‑treatment education, schedules, and follow‑up protocols across both ocular and aesthetic services—helping deliver a seamless patient journey. She has a warm, professional and data‑driven approach, she continually boosts patient engagement and elevates the clinic’s reputation as a unified, high‑tech eye and skin destination.
